November ViMSAR Match

Bright and cool with very light winds for this month’s match. Snipers shot the same course unless otherwise stated. Five stages, all ten rounds, starting with:

Stage One. From prone supported position, alternate medium and small targets at 300yds.

Sitting supported on Stage Two. Engage a single 400yd. target until hit twice. All remaining rounds on a medium 220yd. target.

Sweep from left to right and repeat on Stage Three, with targets at 300, 200 and 250yds. From sitting unsupported position. Two points for all hits on R2 (Gary).

A Nevada Sweep on Stage Four, with targets at 225, 200 and 150yds. Shot from standing position. Sitting unsupported for snipers.

The grenade pitch started Stage Five, and then six pistol rounds at a medium target. From sitting unsupported position, alternate targets at 220 and 160yds.

Possible high score of 62.

October ViMSAR Match – M1 Carbine side match

This month we had our almost annual M1 Carbine side match. Unless otherwise stated, the carbines shot a similar course of fire as the main match, but with larger or closer target. Five stages, all ten rounds, starting with:

Stage One. From prone supported position, alternate two targets at 300yds.

Alternating targets at 400 and 220yds from sitting supported position. No sight adjustment after the first shot.

A Nevada Sweep on Stage Three, with targets at 300, 250 and 200yds. 250, 200 and 150 for carbine. Two points for all hits on the farthest target. Sitting unsupported.

‘Shoot-til-you-hit, shoot-til-you-miss’ on Stage Four, with targets at 200 and 160yds. 160 and 125 for carbine. Standing position.

The grenade pitch to start the tie breaker, Stage Five. then six pistol rounds at a single 20yd. target. Shooters choice, alternating targets at 220 and 160 yds either from prone unsupported, one point per hit, or standing, two points per hit. Carbines engaged a medium 80yd. target with a small center flapper. Two points for each hit on the flapper.

Possible high score of 72.

October ViMSAR Match

Back on winter hours for the October match. Jim and Bill set up five stages, all ten rounds. Rapid fire and then slow fire on Stage One. 25 seconds to engage a single 250yd. target, five rounds. Then 2 minutes to engage ‘Gary’ at 250yds. five more rounds. From prone supported position.

Hit twice and move on Stage Two, with targets at 100, 200, 300 and 400yds. From sitting supported position.

A Nevada Sweep on Stage Three, with various shaped targets at 175, 150 and 225yds. Sitting unsupported.

Six pistol rounds to start Stage Four, at 20yd. target. Then from standing position, a ‘shoot-til-you-hit, shoot-til-you-miss’ scenario with targets at 150 and 200yds.

The tie breaker, Stage Five, started with the grenade pitch and then six pistol rounds at a 25yd. target. From sitting supported, another ‘shoot-til-you-hit, shoot-til-you-miss’ scenario. Five rounds at targets at 160 and 220yds. Move to prone unsupported, reload and repeat.
