Long Shot Rules

GENERAL RULES FOR THE .22lr DESERT LONG SHOT

Object of Match

    • Shooting at steel targets in 8”, 6” and 4” sizes at 300 yds
    • ONE 10 round magazine may be shot prior to the match to dial in rifle

Firearm and ammunition

    • Any rifle chambered in .22lr only and any ammunition in .22lr

Optics

    • Any power scope or iron sights

Shooting position

    • Shooting from a bench with bipod and/or bags (no sleds), no prone shooting (shooting from a standing position is acceptable but the Match Director must be notified in advance)

Course of fire

    • The shooter will have 2 minutes for 10 shots per relay
    • Match consists of 4 relays
    • Shooter starts on the 8” target and must hit to move to 6” target
    • Shooter must call target changes after hitting 1st 8” target, failure to call target changes will result in a 0-point issued
    • Shooter can move to smaller target after hitting the target prior but is not required to.
    • If the shooter misses a target 2 times in a row they must move back to the next biggest target and hit it before they can move to a smaller target

Points

    • 8” steel is worth 1 point, 6” steel is worth 2 points and 4” steel is worth 3 points
    • Perfect score for a relay is 27 (1+2+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3=27)

Classes

    • Rifles will fall into one of TWO classes
    • FACTORY shall consist of any rifle as it came from the factory with a MSRP of not more than $800
    • UNLIMITED rifles shall consist of any rifle that has had changes to the factory configuration i.e., new chassis or stock, new barrel, match chambering, custom triggers etc. or has an MSRP over $800.

Shooting pairs

    • Shooting order shall be determined by the Match Director

Hits and Misses

    • All hits and misses will be determined by the spotter(s)
    • Each shooter shall have at least one spotter while shooting
