Light winds and warm temperatures invited shooters to the second annual Desert Sportsman Rifle & Pistol Club championship. With six out of seven shooters staying clean at 100 yards, it came down to the “X” count for placements. Keith Myers took first scoring a 250-18X. Right on Keith’s heels was Tom Guisewhite scoring second with a 250-17X. And following Tom with one less “X” was Sheldon Turf with a 250-16X.
Next we moved the frames out to 200 yards. After a 30 minute break for lunch and cleaning rifles, we started the 200 yard match with a warm-up. After the desert dust settled we find Keith Myers winning the 200 yard aggregate with a 248-6X. In second place once again we find Tom Guisewhite with a 248-4X and John Seines scoring a 247-8X for third.

Finally had a match with outstanding weather which I am sure had an influence on the turnout. We started with the 100 Yard match first which Keith Myers placed first shooting a perfect 250 with 13 X’s. After shooting 5 record targets we moved the frames and added extra wind flags for the 200 yard match. By this time mirage came in for a visit and decided to stick around the remainder of the match. Shooters were having difficulty trying to read the conditions with dropped shots and a few choice words. The top score at 200 yards was a 247-6X shot by Keith Myers. Tom Debacco took second shooting a 245-2X and third was Howard Bloom with a 244-2X. In Factory class Ron Ainsworth swept both yardages and won the 100/200 aggregate with a score of 434-3X.
