It could have been the Mayweather – Manny fight, or the 20 MPH winds, or a hangover, or rare once a year morning sex that kept some shooters at home, but those that did make it to Rang 6 for the May ‘Glitter Gulch’ VFS Match all brought their best rifles and scopes, big-ticket front rests, high cost ammo and premium wind flags. But not all brought their best game.
On this day it soon became clear that this VFS contest would be a neck and neck race between two established marksmen and that X’s ‘might’ well determine the winner.
At the end of the 100 yard phase two shooters had each shot a perfect 500 score with only 2 X’s separating both shooters, but by the end of the 200 yard phase one of them had an unbeatable eight X lead – but lost.
What’s that you say? How can this be?
