This was the fifth match of our season and the weather was absolutely horrible. I cannot remember when we have had a worse day. It started raining as we were setting up and it got progressively worse as the day went on. We broke a record for the amount of rain on the ground since 1949, and also broke another record as we cut the match short after the first run. We have never done that before but the cold and the rain were too much.
I must admit that we had a good turnout as machine gunners are a hardy bunch. All the other disciplines cancelled their matches and we were all alone on the range.
This was a Subgun and Rifle match with mandatory reloads:
- Shooter started with a rifle and took out 5 steel targets and had one shot at a bowling pin for a 10 second bonus.
- The shooter then picked up his pre-staged sub gun and took out 3 soggy paper targets.
- Shooter then reloaded and moved to another position and took out an array of steel targets.
- We called the quits after the first run and went home to dry out and clean guns.
Don’t forget to check out and register on our new website at www.vegasshooters.net for updates and photos. Next month will be a Subgun only match and will also be our annual St Valentines Thompson Match. We will have a special class for Tommy guns so bring out those choppers. Date is 02/8/15. See you then.
