There was a slight chill in the air at the start of our Sunday match and all the shooters that weighed less than 165 pounds wore a jacket, at least for the first relay. Those with extra ‘padding’ were not affected by the chill.
During the match the wind only fluctuated from zero to five miles an hour. Not bad at all, but unfortunately for many of the shooters the wind speed seemed to change at the exact instant they pulled the trigger, which sent many of their rounds into the five and six rings. When the switching wind was coupled with ammo and equipment issues, lack of experience and just not feeling up-to-par, the result for most shooters were low to medium scores.
But high scores and winning isn’t the be-all end-all. And is not the only reason shooters came out to the match. Many shooters just wanted to improve their score from the previous month — and enjoy the camaraderie that exists between shooters. With this in mind, regardless of their score, everyone at our October match went home a winner.
