If you were at the range on Sunday, July 6th you may have heard the sound of a heart breaking on Range 6. This sometimes happens when the favorite shoots a fine score of 712 in the rifle match, but still loses to the shooter affectionately known as ‘Fang,’ who after a long absence, trounced, beat, clobbered, routed, thrashed, walloped, whipped, hammered and pommeled the shooter favored to win.
My advice to the winner: ‘Savor your victory and bask in glory the rest of the month, but try to be kind to the poor runner-up as the 22 benchrest gods are known to be fickle. Come next month’s match anything is possible – the new ‘Bridesmaid’ might even win.
In all fairness it should also be noted that the second place finisher claimed to have experienced some vague “equipment problems” during the second relay. Hummm.

Seems the old saying ‘You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down’ is actually true. After a tough defeat in the rifle match, Howard B. came soaring back to win the Charger match scoring a hefty 10 points over the second place finisher. I guess he didn’t have any Charger “equipment problems.” Good shooting Howie.
