The weather was great for the SCSS’s this month but the scores weren’t there. They weren’t bad, just not as good as might be expected. Val did get a 40 in Unl big bore and Gary did shoot a nice 35, also in Unl. Don had some issues in US but I think I talked him into lightening up that load a bit. US is hard enough to shoot without beating yourself up. Speaking of which, Mel shot US with a S&W 357 and a pistol scope and turned in a nice 19. I think he will do even better next time with a little practice and a better ram load.
Small Bore Sunday had a better turn out, nice weather, and again the scores came up a little short. Val was cruising on the 1/5 scale targets until he got to the rams and then shot over the first 3. Pete was cruising in UAS then rushed the last turkey, missed, blew his concentration and missed 2 rams. Don was no match for his wife, Debi, who even though she was fighting a cold managed to kick his butt convincingly. Joe K shot 2 scores that were both below his norm. The sun has swung around to the South and sight setting change this time of year so we’ll see who can adjust for next month. If that’s not the reason at least it’s a good excuse.
Field Pistol is where all the fun was with the “Pin” Brothers go at each other harder than at the targets. Wally come out on top score wise, 23 to 22 but since he is 2 classes higher than Marc it’s hard to say he actually won. (In case you’re curious, yes, if Wally reads this I will catch a ear full).
Shoot Well, Take Care… Hg.
